Moose and Wildlife Safaris by Boat & by Jeep !!
Summer is prime moose-watching season, when cows and their newborn calves feed by the lake and in nearby streams. Our specially trained wilderness guides will bring you to moose feeding grounds by pontoon boat. Once there, we’ll turn off our engines and watch moose and other wildlife in their natural habitat. Before the end of the excursion, we’ll head to Mount Kineo to see its 800 foot cliffs. Don’t forget your camera!

Rockwood Cottages is a village of housekeeping cottages nestled on the shore of Moosehead Lake in Rockwood, Maine. We are located in the heart of a complete four-season vacation area, an area that has something for everyone to enjoy every season of the year in a natural unspoiled wilderness setting. Here is a beautiful, crystal clear lake, 40 miles long and 20 miles wide, with many large and small islands, sheltered inlets and coves. The surrounding wilderness area has hundreds of miles of wood roads and trails offering visitors a chance to get back into the woods and providing fishermen access to the many ponds, streams and rivers.
The best and most exciting of our nature tours. Imagine you’re huddled along side of a bush as your guide calls out to a bull moose off in the distance. Suddenly, the brush begins crashing and out storms a bull moose only yards from you. Your heart pounds as a 1000 pounds of moose stands so close you can hear him breathe. All this happens while you are surrounded by the peak of our fall foliage here in the north woods of Maine, Our cabins are kept rustic yet very homey and comfortable. Our log lodge and guest cabins were all hand made on site with a combination of logs and rough sawn boards.
