Hewes Brook Lodge is Nestled in the Northern Wilderness on the bank of the pristine, 24 mile Fish River. It is a four season All Inclusive Maine Lodge for Hunting, Deer, Bear, Moose, Coyote, and Grouse, or just plain getting away from it all. Northern Maine is known for it's Big Bucks & Deer Hunting , Our average weight ranges from 180 to 300 pounds and many of these deer have large racks. This area offers a variety of terrain; hardwood ridges, clear cuts, black growth, and thick cedar swamps. We are also located approximately one hour from the Allagash area, which offers good whitetail hunting opportunities. October and November are Grouse and Woodcock hunting months. With an early spring and a good hatch, this season should offer an excellent opportunity for Partridge. We offer a variety of places to hunt including Old Tote Road and hundreds of miles of logging roads to drive along. This area also offers a variety of soft wood thickets, and old growth hardwoods of Maple, Birch, and Beech trees which is an excellent habitat for Grouse. Bring your dogs and enjoy some of the best Grouse Hunting in the State .Northern Maine is known for Moose hunting. This area offers a variety of terrain; hardwood ridges, clear cuts, black growth, and thick cedar swamps. Our Bulls average a 50 to 60 inch antler spreads, and we offer Guided River Floats down Fish River. There are also 100's of miles of logging roads to explore for Moose. Our working forests provide perfect habitat for bear, moose, and ruffed grouse. Hundreds of miles of logging roads and millions of acres of timberland makes access simple. We start the season off with black bear-over-bait beginning the last week of August. We contract with landowners for private bait sites. Stands are set for archers and firearms hunters and you are guaranteed a fresh bait site no matter which week you book. We offer three week-long guided moose hunts (lottery only) in Wildlife Management Districts (WMDs) 1, 2, 3, and 5. Upland bird hunting starts October 1, and is very productive in northern Maine whether you’re hunting on foot or over dogs. I have a two-room back woods camp where you are welcome to stay free if I am your guide. It has a gas stove, refrigerator and lights and sleeps 5 besides myself. Everything is provided except personal items and food. My guide fee of $125.00 per day includes use of the camp for one to five people.We have a season for grouse that runs concurrently with both moose and deer. We also have coyote and bear hunting. There is now three weeks of moose season in the Northern part of the state. I guide in zones 1 through 5 and the camps is located in zone 2. Moose permits are by lottery only.During bear baiting season, I work for another outfitter.
